It all began with coffee! "Of all the gin joints (or coffee shops) in Lexington, Virginia, you happened to walk into mine."

Henry and Katie's story began at Pronto Caffe and Gelateria in Lexington, Virginia in 2020 during the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The world may have shut down, but people still needed their coffee. Henry was in his second year of law school at Washington & Lee University and had taken a liking to Pronto's iced chai lattes and a certain barista who made them for him every morning. Katie was working as a barista at Pronto part-time and definitely noticed Henry's southern charm and humor and caught glimpses of his sweet smile when he removed his face mask to take sips of coffee.

After months of flirtatious banter between Henry and Katie, or "being nice so I didn't mess with his drink" as Katie assumed it was, Henry asked Katie out on a date to Taps cocktail bar.

It turns out, Henry and Katie shared many interests including alternative/indie music, gin drinks, good food, and coffee of course. Although they couldn't have grown up more differently, Henry being from Atlanta, Georgia and Katie being from small-town Lexington, Virginia, there was an instant connection.

Over the next few months as Winter turned into Spring and then Summer, Henry and Katie spent lots of time enjoying all of the best things that Lexington, Virginia has to offer. From law school parties and getting to meet all of Henry's friends, to walks on the Chessie Trail, Tuesday trivia at Brew Ridge Taps, grabbing sunset beers at Great Valley Brewery, and hanging out at Pronto, lots of memories were made in this small town.

As Henry approached the final year of law school, the inevitable question of "so where is this going? was raised. Henry had plans to work at a law firm in Atlanta after graduation, and Katie had dreams of pursuing a career in marketing or interiors somewhere other than Lexington. It was an easy decision for Katie. After a resounding "Yes!" to the question of "Will you move to Atlanta with me?" from Henry, Henry and Katie made plans to move after graduation.

The story came full-circle on November 24, 2024 when Henry proposed at Great Valley Farm Brewery in Lexington over the Thanksgiving holiday week. With the sun setting over the Blue Ridge Mountains and with lots of Great Valley wine flowing, Henry and Katie were engaged!

Of course a stop was made at Pronto for coffee on the last day of their week in Lexington.
